The state of Maryland has a giant Lori Ratzburg sized hole in it.

She was my mentor, work mom, friend, greatest supporter… the list goes on. She believed in and supported me so deeply. She encouraged me to do more. We shared stories and experiences and mutual support of women in leadership. We shared family stories over happy hour beer at craft breweries. We talked about riding and shared accomplishments with her beloved granddaughter. We shared frustrations over complications life throws at us. We celebrated ribbon cuttings and new businesses. She supported me so much that she did anything to support my sister as well, always going to get her hair done with her and promoting her business and referring new friends on. She loved and supported my sister as much as she did me.

The other week was my 3 year anniversary at Vision. 3 years ago I wasn’t even really thinking of new work opportunities until she called me to talk about a newly created position at Vision Technologies. “Allison! You would be so perfect at this. You should really explore this. The sky is the limit for you even if we have to lose you. They would be so lucky to have you. Let me connect you to my contact there.” She supported me through the lengthy interview process and is the reason I am where I am today, even though it meant me leaving because she wanted me to grow and believed in my potential. She has continued to check in ever since.

The news of her passing hit like a brick. You’re never prepared even when you know it’s coming. But I had to keep going because it’s what she would have wanted.

Really, her obituary says it best: https://lnkd.in/eXrTdqaf

Cancer took you too soon and I’m so sorry. The most beautiful, caring, best soul. Everyone was so lucky to know you and anyone who doesn’t is now lucky to know about you.

Your memory will live on 💙
