After two and half years, three promotions, and seven glorious programs, my time at Sisense has come to an end. I am one of many “Restructured” this morning as gracefully as possible by our leadership team.
The past few hours have been a whirlwind of saying goodbye (and thank you) to my friends and coworkers, applying for unemployment, budgeting, panicking, and starting the arduous task of blanketing the town with my resume. I’ve been distracting myself with Doing.
So I’m giving myself the opportunity to pause. And cry, frankly. I loved my job. I love building successful programs that help support my teammates. I love the software we built it all in. I love the puzzles and the data and my boss and our energy. I am so proud of the work I did, of the things I created, and of who I became.
So, to my Sisense teammates (you know who you are)- You have my endless, boundless gratitude. You are my reason. I did it all to bring you ease and success.
To my future teammates (and I have no idea who you are)- Get ready. I can’t wait to start our adventure.
After I wash my face. Crying is messy. 😂

I'm taking a sick day today, and I've heard no fewer than 3 jokes at my expense from well-meaning folx for "partying too hard this weekend".
I get the jokes; but it's struck a wrong chord with me. These jokes, based in a culture that requires we only rest and play on the weekends and that any need for either of those two things NOT bleed into the work week is not the work culture I subscribe to.
I work for an amazing company with a wonderful culture that encourages rest, play, and relaxation whenever we need it. I've never felt shy about using my unlimited PTO, or announcing that I rest between meetings with a puzzle game, or regaling my coworkers with stories of my weekend adventures. I've always felt that Sisense honors my time as MINE.
Let's stop de-legitimizing rest. Let's encourage folx to rest when they need it. Let's congratulate folx on resting. Let's never imply that having fun isn't a good reason to rest- Every reason is a good reason.
