[Corporate Innovation]  2025 Planning Activities have started for many companies.  Remarkably, we are approaching 25% into a new century and half way through this highly transformative decade. Technological and business progress is accelerating, so expect a lot more for the second half of the 2020s!

Having sponsored, facilitated, participated in, parachuted into, slept through, and conceived of many offsite meetings, we know that well-run strategy formation retreats can be transformative for startups and large corporations alike.

Some tips:

  • Leave the office & pick a productive external venue
  • Engage a broader than usual group of participants, including informed outsiders
  • Block one and half days of time & assign focused pre-meeting reading / videos
  • Prepare an experienced facilitator to ensure the “interesting conversations” turn into “business impacts”
  • End with a future-clarity framework completed
  • Realize that the business goals are both coalition formation as well as strategic planning
  • Consider leaving the post-it notes in the early 2000’s (we’ve moved on)

And, as a bonus, we’re hosting several here in Silicon Valley, as we can combine focused strategy creation with other business meetings.  Pick offsite venues within global innovation hubs to combine university, startup, VC, multinational and other potential partner meetings.

How might we develop 2025 plans, knowing that the world around us is changing quicker than ever?

[Corporate Innovation] Launching a large benchmarking survey to capture current practices in corporate innovation & CVC.  Lots of data is already out there, but shockingly little at the forefront of these rapidly evolving times (and even less that isn't VC deal based)

So, for all of you innovation-minded colleagues, contacts, or curmudgeons - please private message if you would like the link to answer Part 1 questions (<10 min).  In exchange, you’ll have our gratitude, admiration, and access to the summary findings as they are made available.

Eric R West, Damien Foord, Audrey Duet, Julia K. Sloane, PhD, Bob Kupbens. Michael Mitchell, Nitin Vaish, Mark Platshon, Arthur P., and many others! (feel free to tag others who should know about this)
