Highlights
I am not an economist, just someone who has lived through and built companies through 4 (or 5 depending how I count them) down markets.
My thoughts: If you are truly passionate and obsessed with your idea or business and believe it can have a positive impact on your customers then build now! Be careful to conflate investor financial sentiment with customer impact.
Will there be less money flowing for a while? Maybe but we are already almost 2 years into a tighter fundraising market.
Will it force CEOs to be more financially diligent and responsible - yes and this will ultimately be great for you to build a long lasting and meaningful business.
And while no one has a crystal ball, my $0.02 is that all this sell off is big financial institutions preparing for a) the feds to drop rates and b) markets are typically up in an election year making the fall/winter a great time to take that sideline cash when the market is lower and put it back to work.
If I am even remotely correct that means we will see easier fundraising times starting to pick up about this time next year.
That being said - great businesses with solid financials and a solid understanding of their financials will always be able to fundraise.
Good luck, stay focused and positive and keep building!!!
