Andrea Durham is a student currently enrolled at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering, where she is pursuing her studies after graduating from the Academy for Medical Science Technology at Bergen County Academies in 2022. At NYU, she has developed a keen interest in research, particularly in the field of Alzheimer's disease, which was sparked by a writing class that led her to engage in research at Mount Sinai and other institutions.2
During her time at Bergen County Academies, Andrea was actively involved in various academic pursuits, including research in chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnology. She has also expressed interests in neurosurgery and has participated in music through piano lessons.3 As of now, she is expected to graduate from NYU in 2026.1

I am excited to announce the recent publication of, “The Role of the Neural Exposome as a Novel Strategy to Identify and Mitigate Health Inequities in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias” in the journal Molecular Neurobiology. This was a collaborative effort, and it was a pleasure to work alongside Ravid Granov, Skyler Vedad, Shu-Han (Suzy) W., Divyash Shah, and Giulio Maria Pasinetti, MD, PhD.
Our work covers how the Neural Exposome can be utilized as a mechanistic approach to understand the development of ADRD, especially in disadvantaged communities, and considers exposomic factors and exposures that are oftentimes overlooked that may contribute to the development of ADRD.

On another note, as some may know, the topic of Alzheimer’s disease has significant meaning to me. My grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s instilled a deep passion in me at a young age to want to pursue a career in neurodegenerative disease research and make meaningful, ethical contributions to the research community. It is that same passion that I carry to this day, and it is my hope that this paper has that effect.
