"Keep sailing biotech industry - don't worry about the everlasting ups and downs of waves" ⛵ ⚓ ⛵ ⚓⛵ ⚓ Everybody who has worked for a while in the life sciences industry knows by heart that this is a cyclical industry. The fundamental assumption that health is the most important aspect of human life and that investing in smart ways to promote health by means of deep technology is unlikely to change anytime soon.

We all just sailed through the unexpected ups and down of the Corona time with some sudden interest in biotech and afterwards a sudden realisation that the world moved on to another "Zeitenwende" crisis related to the illegal invasion of Ukraine. A cyclical industry requires acyclical moves in order to be successful. Many of the companies that get funded now will be the stars of the next high tide. And the worrying about the future of venture capital does not cross my mind. There is plenty of interest right now by limited partners to place money on solving long term problems in health, well being and live sciences.

But maybe venture capital firms themselves need a dash of innovation in their operations with some new, innovative funds that are better able to combine digital & life sciences for precision medicine.
