🚀 Comparative Analysis of Commercial Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Technologies 🚀 Genentech has just completed a comprehensive evaluation of ten commercially available single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technologies across four key groups:
- Emulsion-based kits**: 10x Genomics, Fluent Biosciences
- Microwell-based kits**: Becton Dickinson, Honeycomb Technologies, Singerlon Technologies
- Combinatorial-indexing kits**: Parse Biosciences, Scale Biosciences
- Matrigel-based kit**: Scipio Biosciences Using peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from a single donor, Marco De Simone and Jonathan Hoover assessed each technology's analytical performance, sample compatibility, cost, and experimental duration. 🔍 Key Findings:
- The Chromium Fixed RNA Profiling kit from 10x Genomics demonstrated superior analytical performance with its unique probe hybridization for transcript detection.
- The Rhapsody WTA kit from Becton Dickinson offered a cost-effective balance of performance and expense per cell. Our dataset includes an impressive 218,154 cells, providing a robust basis for differentiating these technologies and facilitating their effective application and further development in single-cell transcriptomics. 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞-𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐤𝐢 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐝𝐚 We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aki Minoda, from the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences in Nijmegen, Netherlands, has been selected as the recipient of the Single-Cell Metabolism Grant. Dr. Minoda's research focuses on the microbiome's impact on cellular aging. Utilizing her expertise, she has developed a comprehensive Mouse Ageing Atlas, integrating transcriptomic and epigenomic single-cell data. Her investigation aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying chromatin degradation and gene dysregulation during aging and its implications for disease pathogenesis. As part of the grant, Dr. Minoda and her team will benefit from access to QSM™-enabled single-cell metabolic phenotyping capabilities. The outcomes of their research will be disseminated through publications, and the single-cell metabolic data generated using scQSM™ will be accessible to the scientific community. scQSM™ stands as the inaugural technology platform for phenotyping metabolic pathway activities, encompassing bioenergy metabolism (OxPhos) at the single-cell level. It has been validated for immune cells and brain tissue, offering profound insights for both discovery and translational science. #congratulations #celltherapy #qsm #quantitativesystemmetabolism #doppelganger #cytometry #singlecell #metabolomics #radboud
