Highlights
As the Manager of Community and Impact at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, I build partnerships with community-driven and community-led organizations such as Ghetto Film School (GFS) to create a sense of belonging for historically excluded groups through cinema.
As part of our community partnership with GFS for our "Shifting Perspectives: Vertical Cinema" exhibition on display, we screened vertical films by GFS filmmakers that highlight the cultural vitality of Los Angeles in the state-of-the-art Ted Mann Theater and I moderated one of the Q&As. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Thank you to the amazing Kyle Provencio Reingold, the GFS team, Marty Preciado, Uyen Bui and Eduardo Sanchez for helping build community around these talented filmmakers.
And special thanks to Agnes Stauber and Stephanie Sykes for moderating the other Q&As and sparking such insightful conversations with the filmmakers!
