I want to congratulate my friend Mikael Weissmann and his colleague Niklas Nilsson on the publication of their book "Russian Warfare and Influence: States in the Intersection Between East and West." Embracing true whole-of-society defense education Försvarshögskolan - Swedish Defence University is home to some amazing analysts on #irregularwarfare and experts on the Russian #hybridwarfare threatscape.

Strongly recommend!

Incredible elite team performance example! I hope this weatherman (Nate Byrne of ABC News) knows how inspirational this example is.. most folks fighting invisible physiological or neurological struggles (medical issues like anxiety, depression, PTSD, or any related challenge) will never have to face them on live television and if we did, we might not do so with such incredible poise and self-awareness.

I take three really important messages away from this:

  1. It ALWAYS OK to ask for help, and we should ask for help from trusted colleagues, friends, and external resources. Fighting the internal battles alone, against a treatable health condition is frankly more than most of us can do.

  2. When we feel overwhelmed, it's ALWAYS OK to choose to rest. Resting is a form of self-discipline and self-care that can also help everyone around us.

  3. I hope this fella and anyone else who has experienced this kind of a medical issue knows that they can and should walk with pride in their recovery. Ideally, these kinds of struggles can be taken care of in confidence but sometimes any of us might need to take a brief reset.

For those interested in how they can learn tools, techniques, and resources to address this. I am big fan of the work National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI.org) does in the destigmatization, education, and resource connection on these issues... as they say "Vulnerability can become a superpower."

Grateful to see this kind of news content on the internet! How many lives might be quietly changed for the better or even saved because of this unexpected example?
