Highlights
The big 5-0 is just around the corner for me, and it's got me thinking about the time that's passed and the time yet to come. My son, who was just a baby when I worked with many of you, is now only a handful of years away from heading off to college. It's a stark reminder of how quickly time flies.
I've come to realize that I'm at the later stages of my professional journey. The possibilities of pursuing different projects, giving back, traveling more, or even starting something new are swirling in my mind. I find myself wanting to embrace this new phase with a renewed sense of purpose and intention. Anyone else feel this way?
I'm putting together a small peer-discussion group that meets weekly, a place where seasoned professionals who are navigating similar life transitions, can come together to chat about life. Get some perspective from others in the same situation.
Host: Me When: Tuesdays, 12:00pm Pacific (3:00pm Eastern) for 50 minutes Where: Live online video (i'll share details to those interested) Who: Invite-only, up to 6 people How: Direct message me for an invite-code to sign up
If this resonates with you, I'd be thrilled to have you join me. Or if you know someone else who's in a similar situation, please don't hesitate to let them know about the group.
We create stories in our heads around personal failures, like "I'm not smart enough" or "I didn't sell my ideas well." Often, they're not true and they hold us back from our true potential. In times of #layoffs, this is especially true -- could you have sone something to avoid being laid off, or was it completely out of your control, like market forces or bad decision making from leaders?
In my experience around so-called personal failures, I have found it useful to talk it out with other people - your partner, your best friends, your former colleagues (even the ones that remain), and even your manager and manager's manager. In exploring my own stories with other people, which took guts, I discovered new information and perspectives that helped me re-write those stories in a new way that helped me move forward.
