Do as I say, not as I do...

This phrase probably makes you cringe, or seethe.

But I've been saying it a lot lately, so I have a new understanding.

When I say it, it's because I'm giving advice that I myself didn't follow when building Day One

It's not because the advice is bad. It's very good advice.

It's because advice, even the best advice, isn't enough. It needs to be combined with empathy and context, and coaching and support.

So we give this kind of advice in Day One - the kind backed up with everything a founder needs to actually put it into practice.

So you can avoid my mistakes. And do what I say, not what I do (did).

I wrote a longer piece on this - if this kind of content is helpful, please subscribe to our newsletter, Future Founders!

Have you ever sat down to write a post, a newsletter, a landing page, but just can't find the words? Or you don't even start because you know even if you get one thread written, you'll share it and get 10 likes and lose the motivation to keep going.

But then you scroll through your timeline and you see threads and posts that are just majestic, AND they're popping off with comments and likes, and you feel both jealous and frustrated.

👋 Hi, I'm Andrew, and I've felt that.

And when I talk to other founders, they feel the same thing.

(Can I get a 👋 or an amen if you've felt that too?)

So, we're going to see if we can't do something about it.

Introducing: the Day One Writers Cohort.

The Day One Writers Cohort is a 4-week program focused on helping founders and entrepreneurs start and improve their writing on the internet. In this cohort you’ll learn key skills (including how to leverage AI) to become an effective writer.

You'll tap into a community of founders going on the same journey, and plug into the growing Day One community of over 500 founders.

But most importantly, you’ll write and ship 3 essays, leveraging the power of the community for ideas, feedback, and amplification.

We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Grant Nissly, who has run cohorts like this for more than 20 different communities. Together we’ve taken his proven methodology and tailored it for entrepreneurs.

The cohort kicks off April 19. You can sign up today 👇

And if you sign up by March 31, you can use the code WRITING10 for 10% off.
