Angelika Planitz is a highly accomplished professional with a strong educational background in International Relations. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Konstanz, where she specialized in this field. Angelika also pursued her secondary education at Ellenrieder Secondary School in Konstanz, showcasing her commitment to academic excellence from an early age.

Throughout her career, Angelika has held several key roles in prestigious organizations, demonstrating her expertise in disaster risk reduction and governance. She currently serves as the Team Leader at the Global Disaster Risk Reduction Node at UNDP, where she plays a pivotal role in leading initiatives to mitigate risks worldwide. Prior to this role, Angelika held the position of Disaster and Climate Risk Governance Advisor at UNDP, where she contributed significantly to enhancing disaster resilience and climate adaptation strategies.

Angelika's rich professional journey includes pivotal roles such as Disaster and Governance Advisor at UNDP, Pacific Sub-Regional Coordinator at UNISDR, Programme Officer for Asia Pacific at UNISDR, and Disaster Reduction Programme Specialist for Asia Pacific at UNDP. Her diverse experiences have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of disaster management practices and policies on both regional and global scales.

Before her work at UNDP and UNISDR, Angelika honed her skills in disaster preparedness and community resilience at Concern Worldwide and the UN South Pacific Disaster Reduction Programme. Her dedication to enhancing disaster response mechanisms and empowering communities in the face of adversity is evident through her various engagements in these organizations.

Angelika Planitz's early exposure to the development sector during her role as an Associate Expert at the UN South Pacific Disaster Reduction Programme and as a Post-Graduate Trainee at the German Development Institute has laid a solid foundation for her career trajectory. Her hands-on experience, coupled with academic insights, has enabled her to make substantial contributions to the field of disaster risk reduction and governance.
