Innovative Event Planning: Learning from Massive Attack’s Sustainable Concert

As event planners, we constantly face the challenge of balancing the excitement of live events with the need to reduce our environmental impact. Massive Attack’s Act 1.5 concert in Bristol is a shining example of how large-scale events can lead the way in sustainability.

This event was not just powered by 100% renewable energy but also takes bold steps to address one of the biggest environmental challenges we face: attendee travel. By prioritising local ticket sales, offering rail travel incentives, and providing electric shuttles, they’re actively reducing the carbon footprint associated with fan travel—often the largest source of emissions at events.

Imagine if more events adopted these practices. We could significantly reduce our industry's carbon footprint, all while delivering memorable experiences. It's time we think beyond the usual logistics and embrace innovative solutions like these.

I love this sustainable idea: no car park for the gig to encourage more walking and public transport use. Let’s promote better ideas on transport to help reduce our event carbon footprint.
