Anthony Garrison-Engbrecht is a dedicated higher education administrator, educator, and advocate with a rich background serving in various leadership roles across several prestigious institutions.

Currently, he holds the position of Vice President of Student Affairs at the California Institute of the Arts, focusing on creating transformative student experiences aimed at maximizing their potential.

His previous roles include serving as the Vice President of Student Life and Title IX Coordinator at Saint Mary's College of California and various leadership positions at the University of California, including Assistant Vice Chancellor & Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff at UC Merced.

Anthony's journey in higher education administration also includes significant roles at UC Berkeley and Loyola Marymount University, where his responsibilities ranged from overseeing student activities to founding LGBT Student Services.

Apart from his professional endeavors, Anthony has been actively involved in associations and boards such as the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, and the US–El Salvador Sister City Initiative.

He is deeply engaged in volunteer work, having served on the boards of organizations like the Catholic Association for Lesbian & Gay Ministry and the US–El Salvador Sister City Initiative.

Anthony's commitment to education is evident through his multiple degrees, including a BA in Sociology from Loyola University New Orleans, an MA in Education and Psychology from Pepperdine University, and an MA in Theology from Loyola Marymount University.

Moreover, he has pursued graduate studies in Culture and Curriculum at Chapman University and Rural Education at Oregon State University, focusing his research on issues related to college access in rural and impoverished areas.

His passion for advocacy and equality is demonstrated through his involvement in political campaigns, such as serving as a Victory Fund Campaign Board member, dedicated to increasing LGBTQ+ representation in public office.

In July 2022, Anthony was appointed by Governor Newsom to the CA State Lottery Commission, highlighting his commitment to supporting education in California.

Anthony continues to contribute to the field of higher education through his participation in programs like the NAPSA Equity Leadership Academy, facilitating the exchange of ideas and insights for promoting equity in higher education.
