During my internship at Longhorn, Inc. as a Purchasing and Inventory Intern, I underwent a transformative journey that not only enhanced my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of procurement, purchasing processes, and inventory management.
At Longhorn, Inc., I had the opportunity to engage in various projects and responsibilities that significantly contributed to my professional development:
Inventory Analysis: One of my primary tasks involved conducting in-depth inventory analysis to identify variances and optimize inventory levels. Through this, I gained practical experience in industry-level inventory practices and contributed new suggestions to improve standard operating procedures.
Purchase Activities: I I also had the opportunity to enhance the usage of the utilization of Epicor Eclipse ETERM and Solar, our ERP software. I diligently reviewed incoming order confirmations, meticulously checking for price updates, errors, and inconsistencies. This not only sharpened my attention to detail but also enabled me to contribute to refining our software processes.
Sourcing Support: I provided crucial support to the purchasing team by assisting in sourcing activities. This involved identifying suppliers that offered the best combination of cost-effectiveness and product availability, utilizing thorough market research and data-driven decision-making.
I am grateful to Luke Evans and Terry Shipman for entrusting me with this opportunity. Their support, along with the mentorship and guidance of my managers and colleagues, has been instrumental in my professional growth.
