Highlights
In the latest round of “AI is running the recruitment show” …
I just got another generic outreach email for a job I’m not even close to qualified for with the following excerpts.
”Your resume had some keywords in it that made me think you may be a fit for an opportunity that I have…”
Followed by…
“Please send me your updated resume”
Wait… so how did you see those keywords again? 🤷🏻♀️
#stopthemadness 😱
I have seen a disturbing trend recently in my job search.
Companies are asking for too much from candidates that doesn’t align with fair and reasonable wages aligned with requested experience in the job descriptions.
In all my dealings with the different agencies that barrage my inbox, I am noticing that when I push back on low rates to ask for my market value, that almost always the recruiters are caving in and submitting me at the higher rate.
Or so they say… most of the time I never hear anything more from them after this point. So I have no way to know for sure but…
My belief around this is that sourcers and recruiters are being pressured to submit a certain number of candidates.
Quantity vs quality focused.
Which means my application at fair market value that is aligned with my experience is disadvantaged, and not actually being championed to a potential employer.
It creates a disconnect in fair wages.
Employers are thus more likely getting feedback and exposure to candidates willing to do more for LESS… which is a very dangerous space.
That space promotes job switching, de-valuing of labor rates in the marketplace, and justifies non-livable wages as “acceptable” for high value work in expensive areas.
What has been your experience in this job market?
