1.ย ย ย I listened & validated their feedback...even when it frustrated the heck out of me. ย ย ย 2.ย ย ย I fixed it. ย ย ย 3. I didn't make the same mistake again.
If I've learned one thing since moving to coaching/consulting six years ago, it's that mistakes will happen, and requirements will change.
In this situation I miscommunicated on deadlines and under-delivered on the depth of my analysis compared to expectations.
I took the heat and learned to set more precise expectations. I asked questions to make sure I knew exactly what they needed for the engagement to be a success. Then I over-communicated going forward what I was doing, when, and why (to the point where I got a "You don't have to email us every time, we trust you" message after a couple of weeks).
It also meant they were MORE comfortable coming to me with hard questions and ideas later on.
So ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ to the mistake built trust and showed accountability.

Apologize when appropriate - ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ ๐๐.
Does this mean that sometimes I put in extra time? Yes.
Does that mean that when things go perfect, it takes less time? Also yes.

What I can't recover from is unhappy clients. (And this is a BIG reason why I love working with the team at Skaled Consulting - customer first, and if we have to over-deliver, we jump at it!)
