One thing no one tells you about being a freelancer or solopreneur is the Great Wall of Uncertainty.

It's not just that from time to time you'll be uncertain about the viability of your path, the adequacy of your capabilities, or fill in the blank.

No, we solopreneurs walk along the wall of it trailing our fingers against its rough surface.

And if you were to believe that you could scale the wall and be done with it once and for all, you'd be mistaken.

You'd make worse decisions. By pursuing certainty you wouldn't necessarily achieve stability. In fact, you'd probably miss the signals your mind, heart, and the market were sending.

You can't always trust your emotions to guide you. You can't wait until you've got feel comfortable with full confidence to act decisively.

At the same time, this solopreneur path can be lucrative and exhilarating, too. It's not all flinty-eyed resolve and belt tightening.

The point is, you've often got to decide and act when doing so feels dangerous. The 5 questions of Nike founder Phil Knight's "self-catechism" can help you.

I find myself reaching for them again and again.

Check them out in this week's LinkedIn newsletter.

So here's another question for getting at the same insight:

What do you know you need to start doing even if it's not easy?

Your next breakthrough is waiting, friend.
