Highlights
I'm back from another #SXSW, inspired and energized.
Brief highlights: Molly Wood reminding us that in a climate tech industry plagued by “valleys of death”, we could be calling these periods “mountains of opportunity” instead. I’m going to use this!
Craig Lawrence pointing out that many of the climate VCs afraid to invest in hardware are confusing ‘research’ and ‘development’. Research can be extremely capital intensive and you don’t know when you’ll have a result. Development, you are taking what you know and making a product with it.
I got to see first hand that the Austin climate tech scene is alive and thriving! Thank you Palm Venture Studios for hosting the “Climate Futures Innovation Showcase” and letting me pitch your startups on our programs at the Urban Future Lab.
Everyone was talking about climate resilience! This was a big theme across several sessions. Thank you Sean Decatur, Heather Repenning, Tilly Chang, Buu Nygren, EdD, MBA, and Neil Brockway for sharing how you are trying to make your communities more climate resilient.
(We have an entire track dedicated to climate resilience and adaptation innovations this year by the way: https://lnkd.in/e5asKgdG)
