We are entering this new year under the umbrella of a new world. A world in which anger and pain are consuming the hearts of Jews and Muslims alike. There is tremendous suffering being endured by people of all faiths. Our tribes are hurting, therefore we hurt. A father in Gaza and a mother in Jerusalem both sit with broken hearts tonight. A new world cycling back to a chapter at the peak of darkness.

This is a new world. A world at a tipping point, aching for a sense of morality, peace, and closure.

To our hostages in Gaza, we love you, we miss you, and we hope to see you home soon.

To the Palestinians - and wider Muslim world- whom are suffering both physically and emotionally: I see you. we aim for a day where your pains have subsided and we may live side by side in peace. Where Jews and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians, can forge a unity of kinship and friendship within the Holy Land and beyond its boarders. We have too much in common to spend our days in war and battle. I am still hopeful that an everlasting peace is possible, and that both Palestinians and Israelis experience self-determination, security and freedom in a wholesome manner.

We should create space within our communities/hearts to create peace on the ground. Hating one another is a nonstarter. Stop the hate.

This is a new world that need not be overcome by the broad strokes of division and hatred I see too often all around me. The hate must stop. We are at a tipping point, and it needn’t spiral beyond our control.

Jews and Muslims can live side by side, together, in peace. Islam and Judaism may coexist in harmony. The beauties of our religions can live side by side. We can respect one another. We can uplift one another, even with our differences. We can share in grief and battle against hatred, together. Jews and Muslims. If we are unable to do so, then we are solely responsible for the world we are leaving to our children.

This New Year, I bring a message of peace to the Palestinians. A message of hope for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Let us usher in the new year with a pledge for finding the common bond of humanity that should connect us all. May the Palestinians and Israelis in the Holy Land find peace. May the Jews and Muslims in the diaspora build bridges of understanding.

We can see one another’s pain and learn to comfort the wounds of history with the promises of a better tomorrow. The plight of the Palestinians need not be ignored in an effort to secure our Homeland. We can all coexist together, can we not?

A lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis is the new world we all need to work towards. Together.

Happy New Year.

Grateful for hope.

A hope for peace. Where Muslims and Jews, Palestinians and Israelis, will live in peace, security and harmony, together. Peace for Israelis. Peace for Palestinians. Living together, living happily, living freely. Recognizing my people’s right to exist doesn’t undermine your right to freedom. We shall both exist in this holy land, together. You can accept my right to exist without negating your own. We can coexist. We shall coexist. Together. Moreover, togetherness. That is hope. We can learn to encourage and uplift one another. We are a nation. You are a nation. But we are both just people. Our communities can coexist. Jews and Muslims can live in peace. Hope.

A hope embedded in me by 3000 years of history of my people. Yearning for our homeland as we were pushed out of country after country, era after era, we remained hopeful. For this, I am thankful. An ephemeral hope that remained within our families and traditions for centuries on end. Persecution after persecution, we continued to hope. Never a victim, just hopefull.

Thanksgiving is a time for hope.
