Balaji Ganesan is a self-starting and high-energy entrepreneur and technology executive with over 15 years of experience in building startups and leading large-scale transformational teams.
Currently, Balaji is the driving force behind Privacera, a startup focused on developing cutting-edge tools for enterprises to identify sensitive data, as well as to monitor and prevent unauthorized or inadvertent use of such data.
Prior to Privacera, Balaji held the position of leading the security and governance team at Hortonworks, where he played a crucial role in integrating comprehensive enterprise security and governance solutions into Hadoop. He joined Hortonworks after his security startup, XA Secure, was acquired.
Balaji's leadership significantly contributed to the rapid growth of Hortonworks, increasing their customer base from less than 100 to over 800 in just over two years. He has vast experience in managing large teams for IT transformation projects and possesses a profound understanding of the essential elements for successful implementation of technology solutions.
Apart from his professional achievements, Balaji is a survivor of US Airways flight 1549, the 'Miracle on the Hudson.' This life-altering experience has shaped his perspective on life and work, emphasizing the importance of humility, a positive outlook, and focusing on what truly matters. He draws inspiration from figures like Captain Sully and the first responders from the incident, incorporating these values into his interactions with his team, clients, and partners.
Balaji Ganesan completed his PGDM in Marketing, Finance, and Strategy from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, and holds a B.Tech in Textile Chemistry from Maharshi Dayanand University. He also attended Kendriya Vidyalaya during his educational journey.
