In risk of stating the obvious, hiring people based on the skills you're looking for and not on prior experience / education is a good thing...

CVs are a poor indicator of future performance and immediately narrows down candidate pools which reduces diversity. It's of no surprise that people with greater access to opportunity will have better CVs - go figure... Also, maybe the popular "Your CV is the biggest piece of fiction you'll ever write" advice should have been a red flag?

If you agree with this at all, or would like a chance to prove me wrong, Harry Gooding (who set up the Skills business for Hays) is hosting an online event on Thursday 5th September to discuss skills-based-hiring, why people are talking about it, advice on implementing it, and to hear from some employers who have done it successfully.

Event Details: 📅 Date: 5th September 2024 🕚 Time: 11am – 12pm 📍 Location: Online – MS Teams 💰 Cost: Free to attend - request to join
