As you all may know, my fund is attached to Common Sense Media, and I think it's important to note the editorial integrity and thoroughness of the team that writes these 'nutrition label' ratings. I literally find out when y'all find out, but I know it has been a deep process to build a rubric and reviews process that serves parents, educators, and ultimately kids.
Just like the movie or tv reviews, this is not a definitive judgment, but rather a conversation starter around what do we want AI to do? How do we want AI to do it? And what is most important as we learn to live with AI in our daily lives?

Paul Graham's #FounderMode is particularly relevant in #edtech, where the complex layers of user needs, buyer needs, and investor needs often obfuscate the driving purpose of the organization. Often times #founders have a unique ability to cut through the BS and get to the core product vision and the core customer pain-points.

Ironically, I learned this concept from a non-founder in healthcare: Kent Thiry who was CEO at DaVita Kidney Care, a Fortune 200 company. KT attracted great leaders and he aligned the entire company ("village") around key goals and core values. And yet, on a day-to-day basis he was also able to dive down into the root challenges of the business with laser-like precision as if he had built that particular function himself. KT had the ability to 'think and act like a founder' and his clarity reduced the noise and accelerated our organizational velocity.
At scale, CEOs need BOTH the ability to ramp teams with highly capable leaders AND the ability to dive deep in areas that are struggling or areas that are nascent. They have to be both steady hands and agile entrepreneurs. The second often comes most naturally to #founders, but it's also an essential mindset for "founder-followers."
More to come on this adaptive leadership moves in another post!
