I am convinced that historians will look back on this very era as the very beginning of cyborgism. Increasingly our technology is being worn rather than held.

Earbuds give us hands-free voice IO and ‘audio condition’ the world around us. Smart watches track our health and give us important alerts. People now want such easy access to their phones that even pulling them out of a pocket takes too long, so a sling makes them even more accessible. Smartglasses are giving us a private way to see text, images, and video. And MR headsets are able to immerse us in entirely different worlds.

The next step after technology is worn is technology that’s directly attached.

From that point on, there’s no turning back. A human of the future without cybernetics will be like a human today without clothes.
