Betar Gallant

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, California Institute of Technology

Betar Gallant is not currently a Technology Program Specialist at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Instead, she is an Associate Professor and the Class of 1922 Career Development Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Gallant is a prominent researcher in electrochemistry, focusing on advanced battery technologies and greenhouse gas mitigation strategies.

Education and Early Career

  • She earned her SB (2008), SM (2010), and PhD (2013) in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. Her doctoral research, supervised by Yang Shao-Horn, focused on carbon nanotube structures for lithium batteries.134
