Doing it in small steps is still doing it. 🏊🏻♀️
This year, I finally took swimming lessons as an adult. I tried before but felt embarrassed that little kids swam circles around me. Now, I’ve accepted that it’s okay to start where I am.
During a swim lesson, my instructor had us hop in the water to practice exhaling through our noses. I hopped once. Twice. By the third hop, I swallowed water. She pointed out that bigger hops made me sink deeper.
This reminded me of what I often tell my clients: the bigger the leap outside your comfort zone, the stronger the pull-back.
Sometimes, a big leap is needed but it’s not always the best way to create lasting change. If a small hop is what you need right now, that’s perfectly okay because you’re not behind – you’re exactly where you need to be.
