Six years after selling facilitysource to CBRE in 2018, I am moving on to my next chapter. CBRE is a great organization, filled with great people - some of whom I worked beside for over 18 years while building facilitysource from its early days in 2006. I truly value the connections made and the products/services teams I was fortunate enough to lead working within CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS).

I also greatly appreciate the clients and service provider partners who supported our vision - without them, we would never have been successful in shaking up the industry.

I am working on four theses in the technology-enabled corporate real estate space - proptech, smart buildings, service provider marketplaces, and sustainability offerings for the built environment. I expect to announce my next chapter in the coming months.

Stay tuned...

Okay - so I've been waiting for someone to connect the dots for me... many thanks, you fantastic Fortune writers.

This article brings together two areas of focus in my current role - #retail and #sustainability. CBRE is attacking the opportunity with our Smart FM technology and remote operations centers for our CBRE Retail clients. Hit me up if you want to learn more about how were are remotely monitoring 1 billion (yes, with a 'b') square feet on behalf of our clients, and reducing their carbon emissions. Exciting times for our industry.

Some Cliff Notes (dating myself - anyone remember those???) if you don't click the article:

"... the retail sector contributes to roughly 25% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions."

"AIoT sensors can manage store energy use by controlling lighting and temperature, promoting energy conservation. Managers want to keep operating costs low, and IoT sensors allow them to remotely monitor who is in the building as well as equipment and resource use. Smart buildings enable them to configure the HVAC system, lighting, and other infrastructure to react automatically as people come and go. This keeps employees and customers comfortable, preventing wasteful power consumption and reducing reliance on manual adjustments."
