Excited to visit NYC next week for the first time since pre-COVID! It's hard to believe it's been so long. Looking forward to reconnecting with energy, climate, and space folks in the city as I start looking more concertedly for a next endeavor.
I'll be attending the DER Taskforce Happy Hour at David Energy on Wednesday and have a bunch of 1x1s lined up. If you know of any other must-attend events in the climate/space/energy sector happening while I'm in town, please let me know. Let's make the most of this visit! #NYC #ClimateTech #EnergyInnovation #SpaceIndustry
Next week, I'm headed to the bay for SF Climate Week. Looking forward to spending some time focused on what might come next for me, catching up with friends, and hearing about all the innovative new things that climate startups are building. For me, solutions that address meaningful chunks of emissions are most interesting—at least a 1% emissions reduction is the target that I've held in mind since Saul Griffith suggested it while we stared at a huge Sankey chart on the wall at Otherlab.
I'm particularly wanting to connect with other like-minded folks that are interested in the challenge of what I've been calling "hacking the interconnection queue". Energy use for AI training is skyrocketing, EVs and heat pumps are coming online at record rates, and meanwhile, there are literally insane amounts of renewables and storage just sitting in queues waiting to be built (I have yet to meet one person who has come even close to correctly guessing the capacity waiting in queues, even after being told that our total national capacity is currently ~1.3 TW; comment below with your guess if you don't know). We need to get things built with or without interconnection.
I'm also interested in novel approaches to grid orchestration (DR, battery optimization, etc.), interesting forms of energy storage, scalable space-based data solutions, or, more generally, anything that involves software-enabled hardware with something like a 1% impact potential (looking forward to hearing more about measuring this with Koi from the folks at Rho Impact).
Message me if you'd like to meet up. I'll be out at events/happy hours most nights (hopefully Tommy Leep's on Monday, Prime Coalition's on Tuesday, and Daniel Kriozere's on Wednesday), but I'm up to grab a coffee or breakfast/lunch, too!
