A bit of a life/job update! ✨
Like a lot of folks on here these days, I was unfortunately laid off earlier this year. After nearly six years at Plus Company my time was sadly coming to an end. Plus Co. is where I grew into the HR person I am today, and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience it provided me, the agencies I worked with and the incredible HR teams I was a part of. But, as a lot of us know, the departure from your job when it isn't your choice is devastating, and I was left with the worrisome feeling of "what's next?".
As someone who wasn't thinking about leaving their position, I really didn't know the answer to the "what's next" question. I had moved from NYC back to my hometown of Dallas a few months prior and I didn't have the professional network I once had in New York - I felt like I was starting from scratch in a new city with unknown opportunity. After nine years of working really hard and mostly non-stop, I needed a moment to reassess what I wanted and also feel all the feels of being laid off.
So, because I had the privilege to do so, I took one full month off from anything job-related and leaned into something I've been calling "fun"employment. I rested, went on long walks with my dog, baked a lot and cooked big, time-consuming dinners. I binged a few shows on Netflix and did some traveling. I also got to spend tons of time with my fiancé and family and re-explore the DFW area. It was rejuvenating and was the reset I totally didn't know needed but grateful I had.
Fast forward nearly three months later and after countless different conversations with every sort of industry professional, I'm thrilled to say that today is my first day at Match Group as a Senior HR Manager! I couldn't be more excited to work for a company that is centered around love and creating meaningful connections. I'm also refreshed and ready to dive back into my role of helping employees navigate their careers, partnering with leaders to build inclusive teams and cultures, and driving engagement and excitement to come to work everyday. I'm pumped to get started!
P.S - the aforementioned fiancé and I met on Hinge, one of Match Group's platforms! I think it's really cool I have the opportunity to work for a company that has already so wonderfully impacted my life. 😊
