In August '22, anticipating my holiday, I made my usual booklist. Despite frequent discussions at Campspace about climate change, I realized my knowledge was surface-level. Packing books on the subject, I embarked on my trip.

In September, during breaks between bouldering sessions in the beautiful forest of Fontainebleau, I delved into titles like "On Time and Water" and “This Changes Everything”. The conclusions were clear: the situation is dire, and we all need to act—companies, individuals, societies.

October saw me returning with fervor. Yet, reality quickly sank in—information overload and existing routines left me passive, wanting to act but unsure how.

Enter WaterBear in '23—a Netflix-esque platform but geared towards environmental activism. As I spoke to friends and activists alike to understand the issues in this space better, I discovered I wasn’t alone in my feelings of disconnect.

Doing good feels isolating. While many want to help, they often don't know where to begin. And at the same time, the people fighting the good fight often struggle to find the support they need to realise their mission. This is where WaterBear shines, intertwining stories, community, and action to bridge the gap between awareness and tangible change, between the passive and the active.

And now, I'm excited and honored to say I've joined the team of talented WaterBears working to bring people and impact closer together.

As we make the next step in our journey, I extend an invitation to all of you. If you've ever felt that disconnect between knowing and doing, reach out. I'd love to hear your story, and learn how we can make the experience of doing good better.

Last August, our group of friends wanted to go camping. But what a hassle it was to find something that went beyond the 'entertainment park' camping made for families with young kids.

Luckily, my girlfriend knew someone who worked at this small-ish company that was about more 'unique mini-campings.' He went out of his way to help us find our space, and we eventually ended up on a nature camping in Zeeland where we were practically the only ones. The host was extremely accommodating and sweet, and was excited when we told her we wanted to celebrate someone's birthday in a 'slightly' odd way. The trip was amazing in all its facets - a truly 6-star experience. As you might see in the picture...

A couple months later, my girlfriend shared a job from this very company - exactly at a moment when I was looking for my next job. And now, almost eight months after this picture was taken and four months into this new adventure, I'm happy to share we've raised our Series A funding round of €3M.

It's been an incredibly gratifying onboarding experience, and I'm truly excited to see how the changes we're making are helping people escape the city, travel more locally and reconnect with their loved ones.

Looking forward to the coming years of making a positive impact and reconnecting people throughout the process.
