𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁.
It hit me hard this week.
I was watching baby videos with my kids, laughing and reminiscing, when I realized how many times I was in the background doomscrolling on my phone during those precious moments.
I was there, but I wasn’t really there. And now, I regret it.
Because I'll NEVER get that time back.
So this Labor Day weekend, I’m focusing on family. No distractions: just quality time, making memories that we can cherish together forever.
Time is our most precious resource, so here's to spending it wisely with the ones that matter.
𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.
And sometimes, it gives you the upper hand.
In 2008, I was gearing up for one of my first job interviews, applying at a startup that had already put me through a round of rigorous interviews.
My final interview was with the CEO and the Head of HR. I was mentally in the zone, ready to land my first startup job.
As soon as the interview began, it was clear they had done their homework. The Head of HR even had a printout of my Facebook profile in her stack of papers. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀.
But what they didn’t realize was that I had done my homework, too. I had clicked, scrolled, and consumed every piece of content I could find about their company to see if I wanted to be a part of their cause. 𝗠𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯.
Fast forward to today, and this dynamic has only intensified. The importance of 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 has never been greater. Just as companies meticulously research candidates, job seekers are doing the same, exploring their options and evaluating every potential employer to create their shortlist.
In a world where online consumer behavior shapes our decisions, every single digital touchpoint matters:
- Company Website
- Social Media
- Blog Posts / Podcasts
- Employee Reviews and more
Candidates are watching, clicking, and scrolling to decide if your company is worth their time and talent. So, how is your company showing up online?
