Bryan Robinson

Bryan Robinson is the Group Leader of the Optical and Quantum Communications Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.3 His group focuses on developing laser communication technology and systems for various applications, such as terrestrial, space, undersea, and quantum communications.3 He was the lead systems engineer for the Lunar Laser Communications Demonstration (LLCD).3 In March 2018, Robinson mentioned NASA's aim for data rates of 200 gigabits per second for a demonstration.24 As of February 2024, Robinson was promoted to Group Leader, Optical/Quantum Communications Technology at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.1

Robinson has BS degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics, and MA and PhD degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, all from MIT.3 He is a fellow of Optica (formerly Optical Society of America).3
