Email marketing is an art and a science.
Let's break it down...
The art of it lies in the creativity in content, personalization in storytelling, and branding and visual identity.
The science comes in with the data analysis, segmentation, automation, and deliverability.
I want to speak specifically about deliverability today. It's something that's an ongoing issue for a lot of people who are trying to master email marketing and I've got some inside experience on how to make it work.
The best way to optimize deliverability is to WARM UP your email domain.
I cannot give you the secret sauce recipe, buuuut...
...Essentially, our Sendlane domain warming approach involves gradually increasing the volume of emails sent from our clients' domains over some time to establish a positive reputation with internet service providers (ISPs) and email inbox providers.
Pro tip - It's important to start your domain-warming strategy by sending out a small batch of emails to your most loyal/engaged people.
Thereafter, start working on a gradient to gradually increase batch sizes and start reaching out to people who are on the lower end of your engagement scale.
When I took over the Implementation Operations at Sendlane, it was important for me to focus on streamlining this process and I spent a lot of time refining our domain warming strategy.
We're now at a point where our domain warming implementation fits beautifully into the timeline of our clients' migration processes so they're ready to go with warmed-up emails the minute their migration is complete, and this is something we're super proud of.
Have you experienced issues with domain warming? Let me know 👇
I might be biased.
But, I'm going to say it anyway...
Sendlane has a lot to offer. And I'm not just talking about its incredible functionality and proprietary tagging system (that you can use to build customized/intelligent flows that no other ESP in e-com allows you to do).
I'm talking about how stress-free it is to switch to Sendlane. To give you an overview of the process:
-
Our clients don't lose any of their automations when moving from "platform X" to Sendlane.
-
All our migrations are done between 4 to 6 weeks.
-
Our clients are matched with a certified implementation partner to make the process as frictionless as possible.
-
All our clients' existing copy flows and integrations are put onto Sendlane's email warming strategy. Ensuring that all warming is done and their emails are good to go by the end of the implementation process.
-
To top it off, all of this is being done at a lower price than our top competitors.
