Caleb Christianson

Caleb Christianson is a highly accomplished individual with a diverse background in NanoEngineering and Robotics. He recently completed his Ph.D. in NanoEngineering at UC San Diego, supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, focusing on actuation for soft, swimming robots inspired by nature. Caleb has a strong publication record, with over 15 coauthored works covering areas such as infrared detectors, superconductors, micro- and nano-robotics for defense and biomedical applications, and bioinspired soft robots.

During his academic journey, Caleb has made notable contributions and gained valuable experience through internships at prestigious institutions like NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and companies including Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and several startups. He co-founded the Association for Robotics Graduate Students at UC San Diego to promote collaboration among peers and the wider San Diego robotics community. Currently, Caleb serves as a Senior Medical Device Engineer in the Advanced Technologies group at Dexcom.

Caleb's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Kansas, a Master of Science in NanoEngineering, and a Ph.D. in NanoEngineering from UC San Diego. His professional experience spans various roles, from internships at NASA and SAIC to research positions at Tel Aviv University and the University of California, San Diego. Additionally, Caleb has been involved in startup ventures and has shown leadership qualities through roles as an organizer and co-founder of companies like 42 Technologies, LLC.

His expertise in robotics, bioinspired soft robots, medical device engineering, and nanotechnology make Caleb a valuable asset in the field. With a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and a strong academic foundation, he continues to make significant contributions to the technological landscape.
