Hi friends, I have a {slightly annoying but} oh-so-helpful-to-me favor to ask.
The time has come... I now have to ask for your vote for a SXSW panel 😁
I'm SUPER excited to be partnering with my dear friend and co-conspirator, Ian Sanders for a panel called, "Screw the Plan and Navigate Work & Life the Unplan Way!" -- It's a way that he and I both have navigated our respective life's works.
"Screw the plan" is so apt... for all of us, especially when our world is upended in ways we can neither predict or control. I've had some Life Twisties™ in the last three years. Ian recently received a cancer diagnosis that cracked open his life & philosophies. And no doubt, if you're reading this, you are experiencing something now or recently that made you question, "What do I do now that my plan isn't working out?"
Anyway... if Ian and I are selected, this is the conversation we'll have with each other, and the audience. We're both very excited.
THANK YOU in advance for voting, if you feel so inspired. 🙏🙏🙏
Voting is here: https://lnkd.in/gJrq6B26
- Voting ends this Sunday (Aug 18)
- Yeah, ya gotta register to vote. Sorry/thank you 🙆♀️

🔭 It’s time to share The Jobwatch again. It’s updated! Link in comments.
This doc is a labor-of-love type of project I’ve maintained for a several years. It’s for folks who are looking for their next gig — in startups, vc, and tech. Consider it a kickstart for your job-hunt.
How to use it? 🔍 Keyword search in the doc (‘climate’, or ‘marketing’, or ‘freelance’)
🧩 Consider fractional or freelance roles. I’ve included a bunch of fractional resources in the doc.
🗺️ Use the doc to expand where you’re job-hunting. (If you're only using LinkedIn to find jobs, you're likely frustrated by closed roles, 100s of applicants, outdates posts. Yick!) Scan through the doc, explore the various types of job boards, and build your own short-list of niche / narrowly-focused boards. They’re likely to have roles that never make it to LinkedIn.
💰 Start at the investor/fund level. Want to work at a startup? Look for VCs and funds that invest in the types of companies you’d like to work in. Search by investment thesis (for example, e-commerce or healthtech), or investment stage (early, growth, etc.). Most funds have a jobs page that shows open roles across all of their portfolio companies. There are a few funds included in this doc. Do your own research on funds - vcsheet. com is a good place to start.
🧠 Follow thought leaders in your industry. I’m noticing that interesting roles are posted by individuals who post or re-post roles for specific industries or functions. I have an entire section in The Jobwatch for individuals that consistently post roles in their field. Again, do some research for thought leaders. (It’s a way better use of LinkedIn than the LinkedIn jobs tab!)
Please share with anyone you know who’s on the hunt ✨
