Every time I have the good fortune to be around the visionaries of our industry, I learn something new, even within the stories that I thought I knew. Last week was no exception. We were lucky to have Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and CEO of #AngelCityFootballClub, join us for our first-ever Elevate Women's Leadership event. With the backdrop of BMO Stadium prior to the first match of the #UKGNWSLChallengeCup, Julie provided a look inside Angel City and shared how a team built with purpose continues to remain true to the values it established before a single player hit the pitch two years ago. One of the biggest lessons was around what kind of people she sought out to help build the team- on and off the field. The key was people who thought differently and were willing to defy convention. What a perfect rally cry for the role we can each play in helping women's sports continue to grow and thrive: think differently + defy convention.
We followed up the next few days with our #ElevateSportsVentures company retreat, where our entire team came together to do just that. While we have all adapted to working across offices, states and countries, there is no better incubator for innovation and collaboration than to be together in person.
