It's official! I'm a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) via Scrum Alliance!
After taking the training course this week, one takeaway that is sticking with me because of its applicability beyond product development is this:
"All options we could proceed forward with have value. We winnow down the options to commit to what will yield the HIGHEST value. Even so, it still feels hard because it requires saying no to things that have value to us or would bring some benefit."
I felt this paradox when I had to choose a major in college, and again when I had to choose a first job after graduating. And on several occasions since then. And I don't think it ever really stops. BUT. If we're clear on what "value" means to us, we already have everything we need to move forward.
One last thing: if you find yourself in job transition, make sure you explore the resources available to support you via your state or county! I participated in this certification program via the dislocated worker's program in my county, which has funding set aside specifically for sponsoring dislocated workers who wish to upskill or retrain.
Hey all! As some of you may know, last quarter I found myself part of a surprise round of layoffs. Perhaps you know the feeling. Or should I say, the emotional and logistical rollercoaster (I'm looking at you, health insurance marketplace - IFYKYK). Despite the rollercoaster, I have managed to embrace this time for what it is: clarifying. I've dug deep into the question of what I want my next contribution to be and why. I am more ready than ever to take on what's next when it crosses my path. That said, I’m #opentowork! Below is some more info on what I do, what I'm looking for, and how you can help. ✨ WHAT I DO ✨ I'm a mechanical-engineer-turned-software-product-owner. I negotiate expectations between engineering, product, and business teams regarding what to build. I then support developers in delivering on those expectations by being the technical liaison to the rest of the organization. My approach centers on relationships, making sure trust and clear communication are front and center of everything I do.
