When I gave birth to my son Henry, I found myself with a new role — mother — that ended up reshaping my identity. The changes I experienced were profound, but I nevertheless mourned some losses of “the old me.” Some changes felt deep, like my sense of autonomy; others were superficial, like the tradeoffs I found myself making in what I wore to accommodate the everyday acts of young motherhood, like breastfeeding and pumping.

This experience culminated in my founding of Motherfigure, and along the way, I encountered like-minded entrepreneurs and brands. One of my favorites from the very beginning was Chapter Goods, a feeding-friendly apparel line conceived of in Austin, by the brilliant Haylie Schwartz, who had gone on a similar journey with her son. As she has so wisely put it — lots of complicated things happen after you have a baby. Getting dressed shouldn’t be one of them.

So I’m thrilled to announce today that Chapter Goods is joining Motherfigure. We saw an opportunity to combine forces, celebrate Haylie’s incredible vision, and expand Motherfigure’s offering into ready-to-wear, which we’ll grow and evolve over time. I’m so excited for this next chapter.
