Highlights
5 years can go by pretty fast. A lot can change. And it has changed.
As I look back, it's easy to see how far I've come. How much I've grown.
New people. New experiences. New tools. New problems. New solutions. New pandemics.
5 years ago today, I started at R/GA. For the second time 🪃
A month and a half ago, I had the brilliant idea to make a little video of these last 5 years. A journey which took me through a file-scavenging figma-hunting prototype-gathering weekend-spanning no-sleep-getting where-do-I-start-why-does-this-take-so-long-I-have-a-lot-of-stuff-I-can't-show-yet-ugh-wait-I'm-only-half-way-done-😩-breeeeaaaaathe-you-can-do-this-but-this-is-still-taking-forever-why-are-you-so-picky-but-see-it's-all-worth-it-I-told-you-so-🥳-boooom💥 type of path.
And with that, I'm proud to share this short sampling of work while acknowledging the many talented individuals I've had the joy of working over these years who've helped contribute, manage, form and shape it.
I hope you enjoy, because there probably won't be a 6yr version.
Maybe 10 😉
🎹 magic by Tony Ann Just watching the hands move... my visuals comes in a distant second. Make it RAIN Tony 😉 https://lnkd.in/ezEDJuRt

It all started a few months ago, when my 7yr old son was playing with a small toy version of the infamous Black Pearl pirate ship, when I asked him:
“What kind of song would the Black Pearl have?" 🤔
With barely a moment to gather his thoughts, he immediately starts singing his own original on-the-spot pirate chant:
Yo ho, we go, on the never sea. You know who, we are you know, You know, whoa whoa. We know, you know, we always know. You will be scared in fear and pain. Give us your money, and your jewels, You never will escape the claws of Black Pearl.
The best part was I captured the entire thing on video!
It was simply too good to not do something more with. My creative gears began to turn.
So I found someone on Fiverr to tweak the audio from that original clip and essentially “Pirates of the Carribean-ize it”. 😉
I’ve been an avid fan of emerging AI tools, especially Midjourney, so I generated a bunch of pirate imagery that I edited together in a video, adding a few visual effects (learning After Effects in the process 😓), transforming a simple playful chant into a surprising cinematic story!
The best part though was showing my son, family, and extended family the final video, and seeing their reaction to it. He loved how he could still hear his voice in parts of the video (which was intentional). It was even used in a family talent show feature solo act by my son a week later.
Making the video knowing it was originally fueled by his creativity, and seeing him light up as he watched it over and over made it all worth it!
Throughout my creative career, I've come to understand the importance of finding and working with clients you can truly partner with to co-create ideas that are innovative and emotional.
I just didn't realize I've had (a little, 7yr old) one right in front of me this whole time!
