It was a privilege to speak about the importance of #placebranding and share Resonance's latest research on the key factors driving location decisions for talent, tourism, and investment at the AFCI | Association of Film Commissioners International conference in Los Angeles. Engaging with industry leaders from Amazon, Sony, Paramount, HBO, and delegates from over 30 countries was truly insightful.

During the discussions, it became evident that intangible factors are increasingly influencing the location decisions of film and television productions. As one delegate aptly put it, these factors can "tip the scales" when it comes to choosing shooting locations. While economics play a crucial role, the concept of "lovability" is also emerging as a significant consideration in the decision-making process.

Exciting times lie ahead as the industry continues to evolve, with a greater emphasis on these nuanced aspects that shape the production landscape. #AFCIWeek2024, #AFCIWeek, #AFCI, #FilmIndustry

I first met Charles Landry in Kuala Lumpur in 2013. His book on The Art of City Making was instrumental in shaping my perspective on #cities. A decade later, I'm proud to call Charles a colleague and a friend. Thanks to him, WRLDCTY & The Bay Awards Urban Summit will be held together in #Bilbao Oct 8-10 in partnership with Bilbao Metropoli 30. Charles will speak on the urgent need for a mindset change in the future of cities alongside 50+ global thought leaders.
