Christian Schneider is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of bluesheets, a company specializing in financial data automation. Recently during a client meeting I was asked if bluesheets is essentially like the #peppol network.
Peppol sends (mostly) invoice data electronically from one legacy system to another legacy system.
This is a huge missed opportunity, and the only beneficiaries are: clunky old legacy systems. Building a one way street for financial data is not what modern businesses need, as the data is mostly held hostage in outdated systems that make it incredibly hard to retrieve it, let alone repurpose it.
There are incredible products emerging in recent years who enable Smart Workflows and intercept data before it gets locked into decade old ERP systems. Each data point can be sent, shared, and even modified on its way and will ultimately be stored in many third party systems at once. This truly amplifies a business and allows for real-time insights at another level.
The answer is no, bluesheets does not compare to Peppol.
PS: Peppol was established in 2008, mostly to reduce paper invoicing. Fast forward to 2022, most invoicing is now electronic, however not powered by Peppol. Don’t build one way data tracks, build data train stations powered by Smart Workflows!
