We are hiring IB teachers.   The Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa is looking for educators who fit our profile to work with children and young adults at our stunning campus in Mombasa, Kenya.   We have a number of positions as our in-house trained and experienced teachers are a strong commodity on the world market of IB continuum schools. We wish all our leaving teachers well as they go on to make a difference in schools around the world.   We are also a large’ish’ school with a student body of 640+ students (260+ in boarding) representing over 25 countries, and we are a steadily growing school as our reputation continues to expand from the area of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and DR Congo to further afield (including Europe, West Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia). We have a mandate to educate students of high potential from throughout our region no matter their limited means and have a strong financial aid programme to fulfill that mission. .   We are a school of excellence. Our students maintain one of the highest IBDP results in Africa. Our service-learning programme wins international awards. Specific student-run service projects receive outside grants funding to continue the work being done. In athletics we are competitive with many students representing their countries internationally (we are not a sports school just highly competitive in anything we do). Our alumni are excellent, and we have had two graduates featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 while others have been featured on BBC for their service work.   The Academy is part of Aga Khan Schools (AKS) which operates over 200 schools along with educational programmes in 11 countries. AKS is itself part of the Aga Khan Development Network, one of the largest private development networks in the world.

We are secular and non-denominational. Our students and staff worship in a multitude of ways and with very different beliefs. All are welcome.

On a personal note my daughter is a student at the Academy. She absolutely loves it and as parents my wife and I love the the experience she is getting.

None of our teaching roles require boarding with students but we do encourage teachers of a pastoral bent who wish to work with our community to join our residential life programme as house parents. It is very fulfilling.
If you are looking to make a difference as an educator this is the place.

Come join us at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa to learn with and from peers involved in service learning. The Service Learning programme at the Academy was seen as “outstanding” in the recent IB evaluation and last weekend was awarded the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) award for best School Service Programme on the continent. Over the past 5 years the team has redesigned the Service Programme in the school, drawing on the Aga Khan Development Network Approach to Development and the Ethical Framework. We are looking forward to sharing the work they have done and also learning more from the teachers who attend the workshops.
