Connie Nielsen is the co-founder, President, and CEO of Human Needs Project (HNP), a non-profit organization she established in 2010.12 HNP focuses on providing sustainable infrastructure services for informal settlements, with its pilot project, the Kibera Town Center, opening in 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya.23

Nielsen is also a renowned Danish-born actor, producer, and writer. Her acting career includes notable roles in films such as the Academy Award-winning "Gladiator," "Wonder Woman," and "Justice League".2 She has received several acting awards, including Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival and the Danish "Bodil" Awards.2

In addition to her work with HNP, Nielsen founded Road to Freedom Scholarships in 2011, which continues to educate children living in informal settlements.2 Her humanitarian efforts have been recognized with awards such as the 2015 Aspen Big Idea Award and the 2017 Nelson Mandela Changemaker Award.2

Nielsen is multilingual, with proficiency in several languages including Danish, English, Italian, French, German, Swedish, and Spanish.1 Her work with HNP has focused on providing clean water, energy, and technology to slums worldwide through the creation of replicable and economically self-sustaining Town Centers.13
