Dan Krane

Dan Krane is a renowned expert in molecular evolution, population genetics, and bioinformatics. His research focuses on understanding how gene frequencies evolve over time in organism populations, with a particular emphasis on the influence of biosynthetic costs of amino acids and gene context on mutation accumulation.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dan Krane is the founder of Forensic Bioinformatics, a consulting company specializing in the review of DNA testing results in numerous court cases worldwide. Through meta-analyses of vast amounts of data, his company is dedicated to enhancing the reliability and objectivity of forensic DNA profiling.

Dan Krane holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and DNA Profiling from Penn State University. He also studied at Harvard University, Washington University in St. Louis, John Carroll University, and Walsh Jesuit High School.

His professional experience includes roles such as President and CEO of Forensic Bioinformatics, Professor of Biological Sciences, and Interim Dean at Wright State University. He has also served as a fellow at the American Council on Education and as the President of the University Faculty at Wright State University. Moreover, he has held a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University.
