“Look mom, I made a metaverse!” 😍 Seeing a year of our team’s work finally going live is an exhilarating thrill. That realisation always takes a little while to sink in and process. This time our work is called ‘JBL Land’, and we’re extremely proud to finally be able to show it to the masses. We’ve been in a development bubble for such a long time that it was pretty wild to see it being released and to see all these unknown-to-me people roaming around our colourful land of JBLZ, Pink Flamingo’s 🦩 and Soundbytes! A lot of blood, sweat and tears (of joy of course) were oozed out during the making of this behemoth. I would advice everyone to check it out (link below), feel the vibes, have fun and go nuts, make your own beats and let the whole world hear them through the many Jukeboxes dispersed throughout the land… drive around in wonky flamingo-boats, play some minigames or just chill out and enjoy the soothing sounds of an enormously loud waterfall. Maybe try to find faster flamingo-boats and laugh while you pass other people, or try to reach the seemingly unreachable.
The biggest shoutout goes to my core team Nina Lijzenga, Liisi Mononen, Rick van Ginkel and Alpar Akman for making this interactive beast an actual reality. It’s such a joy working with such great creative ànd technical talent. Also a very special shoutout goes to Yero Pharaoh for giving the world the audible atmosphere it deserves. I’m also not forgetting all the other people who worked on this experience; project managers, creatives, designers, motion designers, video editors. But also HARMAN International who delivered us these great assets and characters to work with.
There’s so much more to come for 'JBL Land' and I’m planning to give away some technical insights in some future updates but for now I’m just happy, relieved and smiling.
