Associate Dean of International Programs, Oregon State University

Dave Stone is a highly experienced professional currently serving as the Director of the Food Innovation Center (FIC), an Agricultural Experiment Station in Portland's Pearl District. The FIC is dedicated to offering practical client services and innovative technical solutions for entrepreneurs, processors, farmers, and communities in the Northwest region.

Under Dave's leadership, the FIC runs various programs including Consumer Sensory Testing, Product And Process Development, Packaging Engineering and Shelf Life Studies, Market Analysis, and Food Safety Outreach. Additionally, the FIC houses the Agricultural Development and Marketing Division and Laboratory Services of the Oregon Department of Agriculture, all aimed at advancing and sharing Northwest foods.

Dave Stone's expertise lies in risk assessment and effective communication with diverse audiences. His experience encompasses addressing food safety concerns such as biotoxins in marine and freshwater organisms, agricultural chemicals, metals, and various organic compounds.

In terms of education, Dave pursued a PhD in Toxicology from Oregon State University, a Master's in Environmental Sciences from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor's in Zoology from The University of Texas at Austin.

Beyond his current role at the FIC, Dave has held prominent positions including Associate Dean of International Programs at Oregon State University, Director at the Food Innovation Center, Professor at Oregon State University, Director at the National Pesticide Information Center, and Toxicologist at the Oregon Health Division.
