The toughest lessons bring forth the most profound growth. The most meaningful victories are the private ones. The most poignant moments are the quietest. The most beautiful skies come after the most wicked storms.
Carpe diem.”

I’ve always been sentimental. So… it has not been a stretch to look back upon a conversation with my dad in the summer of 1997 where he mentioned a job posting that I should consider. Exactly 25 years since the first day of the job that resulted, I feel beyond blessed by so many aspects of this thing I can call my career. I haven’t left a smooth wake with my every step, but I have managed to leave some things better than when I arrived. All I've ever wanted was to make a difference. During my time with Dallas ISD, now as an Emergency Manager in the police department, I met my beautiful wife with whom I’ve had 3 precious children, and I’ve forged some friendships that will last a lifetime. I’m not calling ENDEX quite yet. But I am filled with gratitude for the lessons I’ve learned in this quarter century. And I feel blessed that my dad thought enough of my skill set to mention the position to me. These 9,132 days haven’t made me old... rather, this milestone has seasoned me, and taught me who I am. I have been lifted by supervisors and peers and will continue to edify those I can influence. I have risen to the challenges that have been placed before me, and I look with eager anticipation for the opportunities this day will bring. #grateful #25years #DallasIndependentSchoolDistrict #EmergencyManagement #ThankYouDad
