David Holter

Pianist/Piano Coach

David Holter is an Administrative Assistant to the Director of the School of Music at Salem College.4 He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music composition from Middlebury College2 and is pursuing a Master of Music degree at Salem College.1 Holter completed the Certificate Program in Injury-Preventive Keyboard Technique at Salem College in 2013.2

In addition to his administrative role, Holter is a pianist and organist with expertise in sight-reading. He developed a system called SPARK to help pianists improve their sight-reading skills, particularly focusing on kinesthetic awareness and touch.3 Holter teaches sight-reading and piano technique, both individually and in small groups, with a growing emphasis on virtual instruction.3

Holter serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for the Lister-Sink Foundation.2 He is also active in the piano sight-reading community, having created a Facebook group dedicated to the subject that has grown to over 11,000 members.3
