Highlights
Most of my adult life I honestly haven't cared very much for sports, but after launching Maxwell Social I started appreciating its ability to gather people on a regular basis and form a real community. I talk a lot about Rituals and how to build them in secular society but the most common pre-existing rituals are things like Monday Night Football and Premier League Mornings.
This weekend we had two super fun events, the Maxwell x Racquet Mag Wimbledon Party w/ Tennis Social AI with Caitlin Thompson, Stephanie Chung, Tyler Kelly & Chanmeet S. Narang , and our Euro Finals Watch Party w/ Soccertes that leaned into our Soccer/Football and Tennis communities. Next week our head of sports programming Patricia A. is partnering with Andy Marston, Drew Rauso, Morgan Giordano, Will Brooke, Adriene Bueno, Sammy Solomon, Andrew Brown, Clarissa Karpen, Ken Yaffe and Alex Kopilow for our Sports Pundit monthly Sports x Business happy hour, and I hope we can be the home for many more rituals around sport.
See you at the game, and as always if this strikes your fancy feel free to apply to join us: https://lnkd.in/eYiid-JY

Entitled Man Children for Trump: Musk, Ackman, Sacks, Palihapitiya.
There is a strain of bloviating rich guy who seems to at some point been told “No” (Musk operate factories during COVID, Ackman that his wife might be held to the same standards he held a Harvard dean to) and now has reframed it as the world is out to get them.
How people who life has been so kind to can reframe any disagreement with their chosen way to do business as an “civilizational risk” is beyond me.
The rightward tilt of these whiners (minus maybe Sacks who has been Republican all along)seems to be tightly correlated with realizing they can’t simply shape the world 100% to their own whims, and a god complex that the single most important issue is their ability to do so.
They find some cause like wokeness or co-opt antisemitism to rationalize their beliefs but let’s not pretend they aren’t just throwing a temper tantrum because someone had the audacity to tell them they couldn’t have their way.
Women’s, gays, democracy, Ukraine, the impoverished be damned, their inability to properly hawk a SPAC to middle American investors or treat workers like shit or create monopolies, THAT, THAT is the true threat.
