Last week we got a spike in inbound leads asking for design thinking training. While we don’t usually market ourselves as design thinking trainers, it’s always nice to be invited to quote.

I’ve thought hard about how we differentiate ourselves in essentially what’s a very common workshop offered by many training providers and some might say a passing fad. However, we’re seeing savvier requests.

  1. Contextualisation 🗣️ Most clients come equipped with problem statement(s) or an understanding of the general framework. Our value add as facilitators is to help them contextualise it to work projects and solve challenging problems while offering objectivity and best in class practices.
  2. Measuring results 📊 Workshops can be fun but they shouldn’t just be fun. We see the need to help our clients justify their investments through pre and post workshop data measurements.
  3. An appropriate facilitator to participant ratio 💪 We believe an optimum class ratio is 1 instructor to 20 participants (or less) and try to cater to design our engagements to improve the delivery outcomes.
  4. Making it fun 🤩 Many participants take time away from their work to sit in and participate, the least we can do to make the workshop interesting is to add some elements of fun to it.

Appreciate past opportunities from our clients at CBRE, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and EDP on running their design thinking workshops in the last one year.

Over the last couple of weeks, I had the opportunity to chat with product and design leaders like Mario Van der Meulen, Norman Teh, Amy Huang and Adela Ordonez (there are many more of you I would like to catch up soon as my daughter 🧒🏻 goes to pre-school).

I asked them one burning question many of our community members and and alumnus have in mind, is there still a future for a career in #UX given the progress in GenAI and continued bouts of tech layoffs?

The answer was an uanimous YES. They recognise the role of #UX will evolve but its importance and value will not be diminished in organisations who believe great products and experiences drive business growth.

We are seeing continued interests for our #UX & #Product programs in Singapore and abroad and welcome a new foreign student, Kristen Hill based in Taiwan for our flagship UX Career Accelerator (Part-Time) and a new overseas account with AIA Malaysia. Also excited to be partnering with Artem Ventures and FuseCon in the coming weeks to help more Malaysia companies discover the value of design in business transformation. Thanks Riz Ainuddin & Johnny Woo for the referrals thus far.

Happy Merdaka Day 🇲🇾 to our Malaysia clients, partners and students~
